Media concepts

There are the four major concepts in media studies:

- Media language

-  Institution

• Audience 
• Representation 

                                   INSTITUTION

• BBC                  all of the media is a business. They are not primarily there to
• ITV                          entertain us. They are there to make money (with some 
• Warner bros         exceptions, such ad the BBC)         
• Disney              media production is done by organisations. These organisations make the product, sell it ad then advertise and distribute it.

                                             

                                             AUDIENCE 

• Children      
• Adults
• Family 
• Audience is the different types of viewers and the target audience 

The people who consume the product (which might be brought or simply seen or heard). All people who experience a media product form part of it audience.

Audience study turns attention on how people receive these communication. You will learn when studying popular music about how audiences are targets by records companies.

                                           MEDIA LANGUAGE 

Media language means the way in which media texts communicate with people that use them. You may fine out about camera movement, editing, sound and so on. 

• the words, image and sounds of media products
• How the media is constructed
• How the media communicates with us

REPRESENTATION

Media products present us with information about the world. 

This information has to be selected and shaped towards what we see or hear.

Media production means that all information is represented.

Hello, my name is Mayan Zer Aviv. I've chosen Media Studies as I am very interested in media, social media, films, photoshop etc. I enjoy creative subjects more then essay based subjects and therefore I'm doing media and drama. when I'm older I want to be involved in the film industry so i am very interested in media in films and more.
